
DHAKA, Jan 17, 2026 (BSS)- The International Crimes Tribunal-2 has fixed
January 18 for hearing in a case filed over alleged crimes against humanity
committed during the student-public mass uprising in July-August last year,
involving Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and seven others.
The tribunal set the date for hearing the case against Obaidul Quader, Joint
General Secretary A F M Bahauddin Nasim and six other accused.
Earlier on Thursday, the tribunal ordered the appointment of state
defenselawyers for the fugitive accused in the case.
The other accused include former Information and Broadcasting Minister
Mohammad Ali Arafat, Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, and
Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders including Central President Saddam Hossain
and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan.
The prosecution formally submitted the charges in the case on December 18
last year.
Later, the tribunal ordered publication of notices in newspapers asking the
fugitive accused to appear before it.
