DHAKA, Jan 18, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has conducted
a special drive and realized Taka 1,80,000 as fine from 15 establishments in
Mohammadpur area in the city.
"Many establishments have been running business without updating trade
licenses. That's why we imposed fines on those entities today," DNCC
Administrator Mohammad Ejaz said.
The DNCC will conduct such campaigns regularly to ensure a healthy
environment in the city and bring transparency in revenue management, he
added.
The mobile court, led by Magistrate Marufa Begum Neli, conducted the drive in
the city's Ring Road and Adabor areas and witnessed many irregularities and
unhygienic environment.
"The team inspected the food and beverage quality of the restaurants while
visiting those. The mobile court team also checked trade and advertising
licenses of the business establishments in the areas and found
irregularities," Ejaz said.
Most of the institutions in these areas have installed billboards without
permission, he said, adding, "We are re-evaluating them and imposing taxes
according to the law," the DNCC administrator said.
He said, "If commercial institutions under the DNCC pay the advertisement tax
regularly and correctly, there will be no financial crisis of the DNCC for
urban development and providing citizen services." Such campaigns will be
conducted regularly to prevent illegal advertisements, Ejaz continued.
In the drive, the mobile court realized the fine money from the trade bodies
and seized trade licenses for preparing and storing food in an unhygienic
environment.
The DNCC will serve notices to all concerned within this week to collect the
newly re-fixed tax, he added.
