CHATTOGRAM, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested three persons in connection with the killing of Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of RAB-7 Motaleb Hossain Bhuiyan in the early morning today. 

A team of Sitakunda Police detained the alleged accused persons after conducting a raid at Jungle Salimpur under Sitakunda upazila of the district on Thursday morning.
 
A case has been filed with Sitakunda police last night accusing twenty nine named individuals and 150 to 200 unidentified persons for murdering the RAB official.

Among the named accused is Md Yasin - kingpin of notorious criminal gang. Yasin who is active in the illegally developed Jungle Salimpur slum has been named as prime suspect in the case. 

Jungle Salimpur slum  -- developed occupying illegally 3100 acres of government land located in a hilly inaccessible area adjacent to Chattogram city -- has become a criminal’s den for years. 

Additional Police Super of Sitakunda Circle Shakila Yeasmin Suchana told journalists that Gazi Abdur Rahman, DAD of RAB-7 filed the case with Sitakunda police station last night. 

The detainees are Md Zahid, Arifur Rahman and Md Yunus. All were accused in the killing case and inhabitants of Jungle Salimpur slum. 

RAB DAD Motaleb Hossain Bhuiyan was killed and three others sustained critical injuries when a group of miscreants attacked them during a raid in Jungle Salimpur area on January 19. 

Officer- in-Charge (OC) of Sitakunda police Mahinul Islam said arrested persons are being interrogated primarily at police custody and drives have been continuing to arrest other accused in the case.
