59 held under Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2 in Dhaka

DHAKA, Jan 24, 2026 (BSS) – Police have arrested 59 people involved in various crimes within the last 24 hours under Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2. 

The arrests were made by Jatrabari, Mugda, Rupnagar, Motijheel and Hatirjheel police stations in the capital.

Deputy Police Commissioner Media and Public Relations Division, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests. 

According to police sources, 13 people were arrested by Jatrabari Police Station, 15 by Mugda Police Station, 12 by Rupnagar Police Station, five by Motijheel Police Station, and 14 by Hatirjheel Police Station during the operation.

Jatrabari Police Station sources said police arrested 13 people from various crime-prone areas under the station as part of Operation Devil Hunt on Friday.

 The arrested are: Md. Shaon (22), Nur Mohammad (31), Md. Rana Molla Rana (26), Shyamal Chandra Ghosh (62), Md. Apu (22), Md. Hasan Howlader (28), Md. Shakib alias Sujan (20), Hridoy (22), Md. Sujal Hossain Rimon (21), Niranjan Das (26), Md. Arfan Sheikh (19), Nasir Uddin (45) and Rakibul Hasan (28).

According to Mugda Police Station sources, police conducted a day-long operation in various crime-prone areas under the station and arrested 15 people on Friday. 

The arrested are: Sabbir Howlader (25), Al Amin (36),Md. Palash Islam (39), Md. Asmal (20), Md. Khalil (34), Md. Zahidul Islam (35), Md. Sohag (26), Md. Kalam (28), Md. Borhan Uddin (35), Md. Rajib (28), Md. Bakul (35), Md. Hasan Mia (27), Md. Anwar Hossain (26), Md. Momin (38), Md. Shamim Iqbal Bappi (27)

Rupnagar Police Station sources said they conducted a day-long operation in crime-prone areas and arrested 12 people on Friday. 

The arrested are: Md. Habib (22), Md. Monir Hossain (38), Md. Sohag (28), Md. Ripon (22), Md. Maruf Hossain (21), Md. Iqbal Hasan (21), Md. Naeem (20), Md. Zahirul Islam Zahir (21), Md. Tamim Hossain (19), Abdur Rahman (19), Md. Sohel Rana (20) and Md. Jihad (21).

According to Motijheel Police Station sources, police conducted a day-long operation and arrested five people on Friday. 

The arrested are : Md. Jewel (31), Kamrul Sharif (25), Azizul Islam (43), Zahirul Islam (33) and Abdul Qayyum (21).

According to Hatirjheel Police Station sources, police conducted a day-long operation and arrested 14 people on Friday. 

The arrested are: Abdur Rahman Sardar (25), Ripon Debnath (35), Md. Nasrin Begum (19), Md. Shirin (17), Md. Shakib Al Hasan (23), Delwar (40), Md. Rana Islam (30), Naimul Islam (18), Rakib (22), Bayazid (23), Rakib (22), Sabij Hawladar (25), Md. Naim (23) and Md. Shahin (24).

Police said that all the arrested persons have been sent to court.
