
SHERPUR, Feb 4, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami nominated parliamentary candidate for Sherpur-3 (Sreebardi–Jhenaigati) constituency, Md Nuruzzaman Badal, passed away early today. He was 51.
He breathed his last around 3:00 am on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a hospital due to kidney-related complications.
He is survived by his wife, one son and a host of relatives and well wishers to mourn his death.
Nuruzzaman Badal was serving as the secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Sherpur district unit.
His first Namaj-e-Janaza was held today at 2.30 pm at the Municipal Park ground in Sherpur Sadar.
Dr Maulana Shamiyul Haque Faruqi, Jamaat-e-Islami nominated candidate for Jamalpur-2 constituency and Central Executive Committee member led the prayer.
The second Janaza will be held at 5:00 pm at Sreebardi Government College ground. Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Ma’sum will lead the prayer.
After the janaza, he will be laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard in his native village Poragar in the district.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman expressed deep shock at the death of Nuruzzaman Badal.
In a message of condolence, he said the party has lost a dedicated leader who remained steadfast in the Islamic movement even amid adverse circumstances.
Dr Shafiqur Rahman said Nuruzzaman Badal continued his organisational and electoral activities with courage and responsibility despite witnessing violence and loss firsthand in recent times.
He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, colleagues and local residents.
