NARAYANGANJ, Feb 4, 2026 (BSS) – Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar today said July Mass Uprising serves as a critical lesson for all political parties, showing the power of student-led movements against authoritarianism and highlighting the necessity of bringing in new leadership in country’s politics.
“The cowardly escape of the Awami League leader provides an important learning for all parties including the BNP, Jamaat, and Jatiya Party,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at an election rally held at the Shimrail truck stand field in Narayanganj.
He said that infinite power and refusal to compromise with the situation, often leads to tragic downfall .
He urged all political parties to take lesson from the 2024 July Mass Uprising, which led to the fall of autocratic ruler Sheikh Hasina.
Reflecting on the political history of Narayanganj, the Secretary General recalled an incident … when a signboard was erected in the area forbidding the entry of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders.
He noted that while the person behind that sign and their leader has been forced to flee, Jamaat leader’s presence in the same area is a normal incident now.
Parwar also paid tribute to those who were martyred or injured in Narayanganj during the July movement, stating that their struggle against oppressors has created a new chapter in the country’s history.
He informed the crowd that, following Jamaat’s demands, the current government has allocated funds for CC cameras and body cameras at every polling station to prevent any unwanted incident.
He added that the Army and BGB will be deployed to ensure a fair election process.
The rally was presided over by Amir of Narayanganj City Jamaat Maulana Abdul Jabbar and attended by various central and local leaders, including district secretary Md. Hafizur Rahman and candidates from the 11-party alliance representing the five parliamentary seats in the district.
