KHULNA, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar today said people across the country are determined to bring political change and will express their choice by voting for the party's election symbol, 'Daripalla' (Scale).

"Voters have previously cast their ballots for symbols like the plough, the boat, and the sheaf of paddy. Now, the people want a political change," he said at an election rally organized by the Batiaghata Upazila unit of Jamaat-e-Islami at the Upazila market grounds.

Golam Parwar said students in public universities across the country are calling for change. "They are determined not to be misled by propaganda. The aspirations of the youth for change will shape the future of Bangladesh," he said.

Referring to the 11-party alliance, he said, "We aim to bring together the spirit of Islam, the spirit of the Liberation War, and the spirit of the July mass uprising to build a humane and just Bangladesh."

Criticizing misinformation on minority issues, he said, "Hindus are being threatened-that if they vote in 'Daripalla', they will be denied 'sindur' or be forced to wear 'burqas'. These claims are completely false." He also expressed strong anger over attacks on female activists.

Chaired by Batiaghata Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Abu Yusuf, the event was addressed by Jamaat candidate for Khulna-1, Krishna Nandi.
