DHAKA, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former vice chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Professor Dr Farzana Islam, her husband Akhter Hossain and son Protik Tasdik Hossain.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order after allowing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC plea said that an investigation team has been formed to probe allegations against Farzana Islam of massive corruption and recruitment trading through her husband, son, and third parties.

"During the investigation, reliable sources indicate that Farzana Islam, her husband Akhter Hossain, and son Protik Tasdik Hossain are attempting to transfer illegally acquired assets-including agricultural land, flats, and plots-to escape abroad. Their departure could delay or obstruct the investigation. Therefore, barring their foreign travel is essential to ensure a proper inquiry," the plea further said.
