Two men sent to jail for mugging ACC DG

DHAKA, Mar 09, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today sent two people to jail in a case lodged for allegedly mugging Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director General (DG) Motahar Hossain in the capital’s Mohammadpur area on March 7.
 
The two accused are Shahjada and Rubel.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamshed Alam passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to keep them behind bars till the end of the probe.
 
Motahar was allegedly robbed at around 11 pm on March 7 in the Shaheed Faiyaz Chattar area beside Dhaka Residential Model College. The attackers snatched his iPhone, wallet containing Taka 15,000 and a wristwatch.
 
ACC Deputy Director Javeb Hossain Sajal later filed the case with Mohammadpur Police Station in this connection.
 
Meanwhile, another court today convicted and sentenced a snatcher to two years' imprisonment in a case lodged for mugging one Kutub Uddin in the Uttara area in 2022.
 
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain pronounced the judgment, sentencing Md Shakil, 20, to two years' rigorous imprisonment and fined him Taka 5,000. The court also acquitted Raihan Hossain and Sajib Islam of the charges.
