
DHAKA, March 11, 2026 (BSS) - Director General (DG) of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal has called for developing the department into a transparent, accountable and truly service-oriented institution through the collective efforts of all officials and employees.
He made the call while addressing a Darbar held at the headquarters of the FSCD in Dhaka today with officers and staff of all levels, according to a press release of the Fire Service media cell.
In his address, the DG highlighted the various initiatives and development activities undertaken during his tenure in the department.
He expressed satisfaction with the response and operational activities carried out by Fire Service members in dealing with accidents across the country.
Kamal thanked officers and employees at all levels for their dedication, noting that successful operational activities are being achieved through their combined efforts.
He also urged all members to work sincerely to maintain the reputation of the organisation.
The DG further directed officials to take necessary steps at all levels to implement the relevant instructions of the current government regarding the development of the FSCD.
During the Darbar, he listened to opinions and suggestions from officers and employees present physically and those connected online, and responded to their various queries.
The programme began at 11:00am with Director (Training, Planning and Development) Lt. Col. MA Azad Anwar, welcoming the Director General and formally handing over the Darbar session.
Later, the department's religious teacher Muhaddis Kazi Sharif Ullah recited from the religious scriptures.
At the end of the programme, the DG honoured six Fire Service members who took part in the recent successful rescue of a child from a deep tube well in Raozan, Chattogram.
Each of them received a certificate, the "Director General's Appreciation" insignia and a cash reward.
Directors of the department, project directors and managing directors of the Welfare Trust, along with officials and employees working in Dhaka, attended the Darbar.
Divisional deputy directors and district officials from across the country joined the programme online from their respective workplaces.
