BAGERHAT, March 23, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change Shaikh Faridul Islam has visited Namjoggo (Kirtan) ceremony of Hindu community at Harikhola Sarbajanin Puja Mandir in Baintala Union of Rampal Upazila and Haldibunia Reagan Field in Chila Union of Mongla Upazila in the district.

“I am very happy and proud to be present at this holy Namjoggo ceremony. The main teachings of Sanatan religion are humanity, truth, justice and love for all,” he said.

Faridul Islam said this Namjoggo ceremony is not just a religious ritual, it is a unique means of purifying the soul of the people, establishing peace in the society and awakening the sense of brotherhood.

Bangladesh is a country of non-communal spirit, where people of all religions have been living together in harmony for ages, he said.

“This is our expectation that you will observe your religious festivals, pujas and rituals peacefully,” he said.
The state minister said the government is always committed to ensuring the security and rights of people of all religions.

He hoped such religious events will further strengthen mutual respect, sympathy and harmony among us.
“Let us all strengthen this bond of harmony and build a peaceful, developed and humane Bangladesh,” he said.
