
DHAKA, May 9, 2026 (BSS) - The four-day Police Week 2026 will begin tomorrow at Rajarbagh Police Lines in Dhaka with colorful and elaborate arrangements under the slogan, “My Police, My Country, Bangladesh First.”
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inaugurate the annual event by inspecting the police parade, receiving the salute from various contingents and handing over medals to 107 police personnel for their distinguished service and outstanding performance.
The event, which will continue until May 13, will bring together senior police officials, government representatives, diplomats and members of the force from across the country.
Major programmes include welfare parades, conferences, award ceremonies, PUNAK stall visits and discussions on policing reforms and modernization.
In separate messages marking the occasion, President Mohammed Shahabuddin emphasized professionalism, discipline, transparency and the use of modern technologies including AI and digital forensics to tackle cybercrime, misinformation, militancy and trafficking.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stressed restoring public confidence in police, improving law and order and strengthening action against mob violence, juvenile gangs and narcotics.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed called on police members to uphold professionalism and public trust while ensuring innocent people are not harassed.
Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir reaffirmed the commitment to building a modern, technology-driven and people-oriented police force.
This year’s parade will be commanded by Hasan Mohammad Naser Rikabdar.
Police personnel will receive BPM, PPM, BPM-Service and PPM-Service medals for bravery, integrity, professionalism and contributions to crime control and investigation during 2025.
