17 children die from measles and measles-like symptoms

DHAKA, May 25, 2026 (BSS) - Another 17 children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours.

During the same period, 1,224 patients with measles and measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country.

This information was disclosed in a press release sent from the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.

According to the release, the number of suspected measles cases in the last 24 hours is 1,127, and the total number of suspected measles cases from March 15 to May 25 is 64,940.

In the last 24 hours, 97 confirmed measles cases were recorded. From March 15 to May 25, the total number of confirmed measles cases is 8,719.

From March 15 to date, 51,585 patients have been hospitalized with suspected measles. During the same period, 47,619 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

In the last 24 hours, 16 deaths were reported from suspected measles, and from March 15 to May 25, a total of 458 people have died from suspected measles. Additionally, from March 15 to May 25, 87 people have died from confirmed measles.

So far, the highest number of suspected measles cases—30,688—has been reported in Dhaka division. Among them, 6,018 have been confirmed as measles cases.
