DHAKA, June 26, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested a local leader of Awami League (AL), activities of which are currently banned, in the capital's Mohammadpur area.

The arrestee was identified as Md. Imran Hossain, 35, president of the Katasur West unit of Ward No. 33 AL under Mohammadpur Thana.

In a statement, DMP said Imran was arrested from the Katasur area on Thursday based on a tip-off.

Police later sent him to court, the statement added.
