DHAKA, July 6, 2026 (BSS) – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 (R).

A monsoon depression over interior Odisha and adjoining South Jharkhand moved northwestwards and now lies over south Jharkhand and adjoining Odisha as a monsoon land depression, according to a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) press release issued here today.

The depression is likely to move further west-northwestwards. A steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay and adjoining areas. Under its influence, squally weather may affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain in safer shelter until further notice, the release added.

It said rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south/south-easterly gusty or squally winds with speeds of 45-60 kmph are likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet. River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist Cautionary Signal No. 1 (R).
