Shama mourns death of Jamiruddin Sircar

DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) – State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, former minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar.

In a condolence message, the state minister said veteran politician Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar had played a significant role in strengthening parliamentary democracy during his tenure as Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad.

She said the nation would remember with profound respect his contributions to the welfare of the country and its people throughout his long political career.

"With his passing, the country has lost an experienced, wise and dedicated politician," Shama Obaed said.

The state minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her deepest sympathies to the bereaved family members, relatives, colleagues and well-wishers.
