DHAKA, Aug 15, 2026 (BSS) - The Islamic Foundation (IF) has urged job seekers, imams, muezzins, khadims of mosques and members of mosque committees across the country to remain vigilant against fraudulent activities being carried out using the name, logo, official letterhead and identities of its officials.

The IF in a press release today said that a fraud ring has been publishing fake recruitment notices through various platforms, offering jobs in exchange for money and attempting to deceive imams, muezzins and khadims by promising financial assistance from the government or the Islamic Foundation.

It said, recently, complaints have been received that fake recruitment notices are being circulated through social media, online platforms, Messenger, WhatsApp and other channels in the name of the Islamic Foundation, asking for application, registration or security fees and other payments from job seekers.

Similarly, imams, muezzins and khadims are being lured into making payments or financial transactions through personal mobile numbers, bank accounts and mobile financial services such as bKash and Nagad in the name of providing government or Islamic Foundation allowances, honorariums, grants or other benefits, the release added.

"The Islamic Foundation has clearly stated that its authorised recruitment notices and other important announcements are published through designated government or institutional channels. There is no scope to obtain an Islamic Foundation job, honorarium, grant, or financial assistance by paying money through any individual or group's mobile number, personal bank account, bKash, Nagad, or any other personal financial channel," it said.

The release said such fraudulent activities particularly seek to mislead and financially harm religious scholars, imams, muezzins, khadims, mosque committee members, and job seekers across the country.

Fraudsters often attempt to make their identities appear credible by using the names, designations, photographs, signatures, or institutional monograms of Islamic Foundation officials and employees, it added.

In some cases, the release said, fake letters, appointment letters, application forms, and lists of financial assistance are being prepared and circulated on social media. The Islamic Foundation considers such activities completely illegal and fraudulent, as well as an attempt to damage the institution's reputation, it added.

Call for Caution Regarding Recruitment:
The Islamic Foundation has urged candidates to verify the reference number, date, post title, application procedure, application deadline, and relevant authority whenever a recruitment notice is published by the foundation.

People have also been specifically advised not to respond if anyone calls and contacts them through social media, or sends messages promising employment in exchange for money, the release said, adding, no one should pay money to secure a job.

Special Warning for Imams, Muezzins and Khadims: 
The Islamic Foundation has urged respected imams, muezzins, khadims, and mosque committee members across the country to remain particularly vigilant.

If anyone claiming to represent the Islamic Foundation contacts them by phone, message, or in person and demands advance payment, registration fees, or personal financial transactions in exchange for government honorariums, grants, financial assistance, enrollment, or other benefits, they should immediately reject the offer, the release said, adding, instead they should report the matter to the appropriate authorities.

The Islamic Foundation has warned everyone not to provide national identity card information, bank account details, mobile banking PINs, OTPs, passwords, or other confidential information to unknown individuals or groups operating online.

Action Against Fake Circular Publishers: 
The Islamic Foundation said steps are being taken to initiate necessary action under existing laws against individuals or groups conducting fraudulent activities using its name and identity.

People who fall victim to fraud, or receive suspicious notices, posts, phone numbers, letters, appointment letters, or financial transaction proposals, have been requested to preserve relevant information. They have been urged to retain screenshots, phone numbers, transaction details, and other evidence.

Besides, victims have been advised to seek assistance from law enforcement agencies promptly and inform the relevant authorities of the Islamic Foundation.

The Islamic Foundation urged religious scholars, imams, muezzins, khadims, mosque committee members, job seekers, and the general public not to trust recruitment, financial assistance, or grant notices circulated on social media without verification.

"Under no circumstances should money be given to unknown individuals or organizations," the release said.
The foundation advised people to contact the relevant department of the Islamic Foundation to verify information before taking further action.

The Islamic Foundation believes that such fraudulent activities using its name can be prevented through collective awareness and cooperation.
