THAKURGAON, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 66 Indian yaba tablets and a motorcycle from an area near Matiani Bazar in Pirganj upazila of the district during a special operation.

Acting on intelligence information, a patrol team of Danajpur Border Outpost under Dinajpur Battalion (42 BGB) conducted the operation at around 9:45pm on Saturday, said a BGB press release today.

The seized items were recovered abandoned from an area about 500 yards inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar No. 339/8-S in Pirganj upazila, the release said.

The total estimated value of the seized yaba tablets and motorcycle is Tk 119,800.

Legal proceedings are underway in connection with the seizure, while intelligence activities are continuing to identify and bring to justice the drug traders who fled the scene, it added.

Dinajpur Battalion Commander Lt Col Abdullah Al Moin Hasan said BGB would continue regular and stringent operations to prevent drug trafficking and smuggling and maintain security along the country's borders.
