CHATTOGRAM, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 15 leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) during a secret meeting at a residence in the city's Doublemooring area.

Assistant Police Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Aminur Rashid confirmed the matter today.

He said the 15 AL leaders and activists gathered on the fifth floor of Haji Fazlul Karim Chowdhury's 'Royal Touch' apartment near Mansurabad WAPDA Colony on Saturday to hold a discussion.

Acting on information about the meeting, a police team raided the apartment in the evening and arrested them, he added.

Police said a case has been filed with Doublemooring Police Station over the incident. The arrested persons were later produced before the court following interrogation.
