DHAKA, Aug 24, 2026 (BSS) - BNP national standing committee member Amanullah Aman MP today said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia initiated the development of Keraniganj and it will continue under incumbent Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in the future.

He said this at the inaugural function of'Keraniganj-Kholamora-Harzatpur-Itabhara-Hemayetpur' road repair and the naming of the historic bridge as 'Shahid Kazi Nazim Uddin Bridge' at Hazratpur Union in Keraniganj here. 

"Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman during his time visited Keraniganj 23 times while Begum Khaleda Zia visited the area 19 times. They initiated the overall development of the area through canal excavation and laying foundation stones for roads and bridges," the former DUCSU VP said.

Following the directive of the Prime Minister, Amanullah Aman said, repair of this important road has begun and all the remaining development works will also be implemented in phases.
