DHAKA, Aug 24, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Dal senior joint secretary general Nafiz Mahbub today said press freedom and objective journalism are extremely important for the welfare of the country and its people.

The Peshajibi Dal leader made the remark while addressing a discussion marking the fifth anniversary of 'Dainik Nurjahan' at the Shilpakala Academy here.

"Mass media must play a responsible role in building a united and prosperous Bangladesh as well as establishing truth, justice and people's rights," he said.

Nafiz Mahbub said the government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is taking various steps and issuing necessary instructions to ensure press freedom and independent journalism.
