9 senior police officials transferred

DHAKA, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - In three separate notifications issued today, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced the transfer and posting of nine senior police officials, including Additional Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs). 

Signed by Deputy Secretary Taueseef Ahmed, the directives specify that these moves are in the public interest and take immediate effect.

According to the notifications, Wahidul Haque Chowdhury has been moved from his position as Additional Police Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) to serve as the Additional DIG of the Tourist Police in Dhaka. 

Meanwhile, Nazmul Hasan, previously the Additional DIG for the Chittagong Range, has been appointed as the Additional Police Commissioner of the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP).

Several districts will see new leadership following this reshuffle. Md. Habibur Rahman, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Madaripur, has been transferred to Narayanganj as its new SP.  Replacing him in Madaripur is Md. Fazle Elahi, who transitions from the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI). 

In Pirojpur, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, formerly a Deputy Commissioner with the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), takes over as SP. The outgoing Pirojpur SP, Mohammad Monjur Ahmed Siddique, has been reassigned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as a Special Superintendent of Police.

The administrative changes also extend to specialized units and training institutions. Shamima Yeasmin, formerly an SP at the Police Staff College, has been posted as the SP of Training and Documentation (TDS) in Dhaka. 

Md. Jashim Uddin, a Deputy Commissioner of the DMP, has been assigned to the Police Training Center (PTC) in Noakhali as SP.  Additionally, Rashida Begum, a Supernumerary Additional DIG at the Mymensingh Range, has been transferred to the Police Staff College in Dhaka.
