Dhaka, March 22, 2024 (BSS)- Palestine thrashed Bangladesh by 5-0 goals in
the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier match held at the Jabir Al-Ahmad
International Stadium in Kuwait early today (Friday).
Forward Oday Dabbagh slammed a hat-trick with three goals while Shaheb Qunbar
supported him with two goals for Palestine, who are ranked 97th in FIFA
ranking.
Bangladesh admirably kept their tent unhurt as many as 42nd minutes but the
defenders could not sustain the good work and conceded five goals eventually.
Bangladesh strung together numerous accurate passes to build up a couple of
good attacks in the first half but the forwards could not utilized those
chances lack of proper finishing.
Palestine, who are technically, tactically and physically superior than
Bangladesh, took 2-0 lead in the first half and scored the remaining three
goals in the second half to ensure their biggest-margin victory over
Bangladesh.
Dabbagh finally broke the deadlock scoring the first goal for Palestine in
the 43rd minute while Shehab made the score line double with a close-range
shot in the stoppage time of the first half.
After the break, Shehad scored his and third goal for his team in the 49th
minute before Oday widened the margin with a left-footed shot in the 52nd
minute and completed the winners' tally scoring his hat-trick goal in the
76th minute of the match.
The two sides will meet each other in the second leg on March 26 in Dhaka.
