Mohammedan maintain winning run in premier hockey

DHAKA, April 3, 2024 (BSS) - Title aspirant Mohammedan Sporting Club maintained their winning run in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Hockey League as they thrashed Bangladesh Sporting Club by 7-2 goals held at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.

In the proceeding, experienced player Dwin Islam Emon scored hat-trick with three goals while Shofiul Islam Shishir, Md Shimul Islam, Amirul Islam and Malaysian recruit Fitri Bion Sari supported him with a lone goal each for Mohammedan.

While Sajib Islam and Indian recruit Cheranjeet Singh netted one goal each for Bangladesh Sporting Club.

The day's win saw the traditional black and white Motijheel outfit Mohammedan moved top of the table with 26 points from ten matches while Bangladesh Sporting Club, who stand eighth position in the league table, remained at their previous collection of eight points playing the same number of matches.

Fitri Bion Sari put Mohammedan ahead with a field goal in the 9th minute while Emon doubled the lead for Mohammedan also scoring a field goal in the 16th minute.      

Amirul scored the third goal fort Mohammedan in the 17th minute while Shimul made the score line 4-0 with field goal in the 23rd minute of the match.

Shishir opened the flood gate scoring the fifth goal for Mohammedan in the 25th minute while Emon scored his second and sixth goal for Mohammedan in the 29th minute of the match.

Sajib pulled one back scoring the first goal for Bangladesh Sporting Club in the third quarter Emon completed his hat-trick scoring his third and seventh goal for Mohammedan in the fourth quarter.

Cheranjeet Singh reduced the margin scoring the second goal for Bangladesh Sporting Club n the 55th minute of the match.
