Fiery Nahid Rana consigns Mohammedan to third defeat

DHAKA, April 16, 2024 (BSS)—Fast bowler Nahid Rana, considered as the fastest bowler of the country at this moment, claimed his List A career-best 5-45 as Shinepukur Cricket Club secured a six-wicket win over Mohammedan Sporting Club by DLS method at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

Having won the game, Shinepukur moved to the third spot of Dhaka Premier League (DPL) point table with seven wins from 10 matches. Mohammedan also had seven wins but they are at fourth position due to their poor run rate.

Put into bat first, Mohammedan posted 227-9, being wrecked heavily by raw pace of Rana. As the bad light and rain stopped the game twice, Shinepukur was set a revised target of 158 in 30 overs for their victory and they reached the target in just 27.4 overs, losing four wickets.

Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad complemented Rony with 2-20. His economical bowling was key in further stifling the Motijhil outfit which looked to be in wanting in the middle overs that eventually proved to be decisive.

Shinepukur got a fluent start through Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Jishan Alam, who put the bowlers in sword right from the words go.

Jishan shamsed 15 ball-26 with one four and three sixes while Tanzid made a run-a-ball-38.

The badlight however caused a delay after Shinepukur reached 101-2 in 19 overs before that rain further stopped the game with the side at 122-4 in 24.3 overs. Finally the revised target was set for 158 in 30 overs.

After the resumption of the game, captain Akbar Ali sailed the side home with 20 ball-27 not out, a knock studded with one four and two sixes.
