Trophy of Bangabandhu Cup Int'l Kabaddi unveiled

DHAKA, May 25, 2024 (BSS) - Trophy of the fourth edition of Bangabandhu Cup International Kabaddi Tournament unveiled through a fabulous ceremony held at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the city's Mirpur on Saturday.
 
Dhaka Metropolis Police commissioner and Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) general secretary and Habibur Rahman formally unveiled trophy as the chief guest in presence of captains of the twelve participating teams.

The tournament, named after the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, commences from tomorrow (Sunday). The BKF has completed all the preparation to make the prestigious event a success. 

Speaking as the chief guest in the ceremony the BKF general secretary Habibur Rahman said they have able to spread this kabaddi competition across world and all continents as per their pre pledge. 

He said this competition is going to be held much more challenging than the last edition because two big teams South Korea and Japan, who played semi-finals of the last two World Cups, are taking part in this tournament.

The BKF general secretary also hoped that Bangladesh would able to maintain supremacy in this tournament like the previous editions and emerge as champions again.

Bangladesh, who won the title of previous three editions of the tournament, will open their tournament campaign taking on strong South Korea in one the opening day's matches tomorrow (Sunday) at 4 pm.


A total of twelve countries, split into two groups, will participate in the tournament which will conclude on June 3 through the final match.
Grouping:

Pool A - Bangladesh, Poland, Malaysia, South Korea, Indonesia and Nepal 
Pool B - Iraq, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda and Japan.
