DHAKA, Jan 2, 2025 (BSS)-Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed was elated to register a
seven-wicket haul, particularly due to the fact that it etched his name
permanently in the folklore of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) history.

Taskin returned a miraculous figures of 7-19, which is not the best bowling
figure in BPL history but also the third best figure in recognized T20
cricket. Only two bowlers earlier claimed seven-wicket haul in T20 cricket
and Taskin now entered into the club as third cricketer.

Malaysia's Syrazul Idrus and Netherland's Colin Ackerman-are ahead of Taskin
in record book because of conceding less runs than him. While pacer Idrus
gave away just eight runs in his T20 International match against China in
2023, Ackerman conceded 18 runs. Off spinner Ackerman's record came against
in domestic T20 match like Taskin when he, playing for Leicestershire jolted
Birmingham Bears with 7-18 in Vitality Blast T20 tournament in England.

Shakib Al Hasan previously held the best T20 bowling record by a Bangladesh
bowler after snapping up six wickets for just six runs in Caribbean Premier
League (CPL) in 2013 when he represented Barbados Tridents in a match against
Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel.

"Even a fifer (Five-wicket haul) is very special in any format. I have got
three wickets, four wickets many times, but it needs luck to get five,"
Taskin said after the match.

Taskin's seven-wicket haul eventually helped his side Durbar Rajshahi romp to
a seven-wicket victory of Dhaka Capitals.

"Alhamdulillah, this is a big achievement for me. Since I am a Bangladeshi
cricketer my name will be inscribed in the history of BPL even after I leave
the game. This is a proud moment for me."

Now the best bowling figure in BPL belongs to the lanky pacer. After taking
two wickets in the first spell, the 29-year old took two more wickets in the
17th over and three wickets in the last over.

He revealed a conversation between him and his team masseur who told him that
he would get four wickets today.

"Today there was an interesting thing that our team's masseur Anwar was
saying that vai you will get four wickets today. I said, "Since you ask Allah
for me, better you pray for eight wickets for me today. I got seven wickets
today. I tried to execute my plan well and I was successful," he said.

Taskin has the chance to become the first bowler in T20 history to take eight
wickets when he was bowling to Mustafizur Rahman, the last batter of Dhaka.

He said he was playing for team's cause, not playing for his own record.

"I didn't want to be greedy. If I got greedy too much, it could turn out to
be a half-volley. I was clear about what to do in different situations. It
feels good to be living up to the expectations of the skipper as whenever he
brought me in, I was able to provide breakthroughs."
