Abahani emerge as group champion

DHAKA, Jan 31, 2025 (BSS)- Abahani Limited Dhaka emerged as group B champions in the Bashundhara Group Federation Cup
football beating Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 2- 0 goals in a match held at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the
capital on Friday.

With the win, Abahani secured 12 points from four matches while Rahmatganj who finished as runners-up in the group,
remained at their previous collection of nine points playing the same number of matches.
 
In the proceeding, midfielders Enamul Islam Gazi and Mohammad Ridoy scored one goal each for Abahani Limited who
led the first half by 1-0 goal.

Enamul put Abahani Limited ahead early in the 12th minute and after the breather Ridoy scored the second goal in the 60th
minute of the match.

Rahmatganj however tried their best to stage a fight back in the match but they could not score any in the remaining
proceeding and eventually they had to leave the field with empty hand.

Abahani will face Bashundhara Kings in the first qualifier on April 8 while the two runners-up teams Brothers Union and
Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society will meet in the second qualifiers on April 15.

The losing team in the match between Abahani Limited and Bashundhara Kings of the first qualifiers and the winning
team between Brothers Union and Rahmatganj will face on April 22.

The final of the competition is slated for May 2.
