DHAKA, Feb 2, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh national cricket team selector Hannan
Sarkar stepped down from his post to focus on coaching career.

He said, he has submitted his resignation to BCB Cricket Operations Chairman
Nazmul Abedin Fahim on Saturday but will continue to work till the end of
this month as he will serve the one month notice period.

"Although the job (selector) is enjoyable and honorable, I feel that coaching
is my future career," Hannan told the reporters today.

"I firmly believe I can contribute more to Bangladesh cricket through
coaching. It's not that I took this decision suddenly, rather I was thinking
about the matter for quite a long time. Now I have proceeded with it
officially."

Hannan who represented Bangladesh between 2002 and 2004 in 17 Tests and 20
ODIs, was in coaching career before joining as selector. He completed his
Level 1 and Level 2 coaching courses from the BCB in 2010 and 2011
respectively.

The former national opener supervised the teams in Dhaka Premier League
(BPL), National Cricket League (NCL), Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) and
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

After leaving coaching, he became a selector for age-level cricket. He was
the selector of the team when the Bangladesh Under-19 team became the world
champion. After getting a promotion from there, he joined the national teams
as a selector in February last year.

The BCB had a contract with him until February 2026.

He is expected to guide a team in next DPL.
