DHAKA, Sept 28, 2025 (BSS)- Soumya Sarkar replaced on injured Liton Das as the
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the national squad for the upcoming
three-match T20 International series against Afghanistan today.

The three matches are scheduled to be held in Sharjah, the United Arab
Emirates (UAE) on October 2, 3 and 5.

Jaker Ali Anik will continue to lead the side in the absence of regular
captain Liton who remains sidelined due to injury.

Jaker led the side in the crucial Asia Cup matches against India and Pakistan
after Liton suffered a strain during a practice session.

"He (Liton) had missed the last two matches of the Asia Cup with a side
strain. An MRI scan has revealed a grade-1 strain on the left abdominal
muscle," national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said.

"He is undergoing recovery and will not be available for the T20 series. The
medical team will continue to manage his rehab and monitor his progress."

However, it was not clear whether Liton will recover fully to play the three-
match ODI against the same opponent, that will follow the T20 series.

Soumya is the only change to the squad which had played in the Asia Cup.

He was in good form, scoring 45 and 63 in his last two matches in the ongoing
NCL T20 tournament. The 32-year old allrounder played his last T20 match with
national jersey in December, 2024 against West Indies in Kingstown.

Bangladesh T20 Squad:

Jaker Ali Anik (Captain), Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif
Hassan, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Patwari, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Rishad Hossain,
Shak Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur
Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Saifuddin and Soumya Sarkar.
