EU backs Bangladesh's democratic transition efforts

DHAKA, Nov 15, 2025 (BSS) - The European Union has expressed support for Bangladesh's ongoing transition under the interim government, reaffirming its confidence in the country's leadership and encouraging political parties to participate constructively in the electoral process.

In a Facebook post, the EU said it "supports the transition in Bangladesh under the interim government leading to democratic elections."

It further noted, "We welcome the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in view of the holding of participatory, free and fair elections in February next year."

The EU also urged political parties to work responsibly, stating, "We encourage the political parties to engage constructively in the next steps."
