Youth killed in motorcycle collision in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, Nov 15, 2025 (BSS) - A youth was killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in Kaliganj upazila of the district on yesterday evening.

The deceased was identified as Suman Hossain, 22, son of Abdul Mannan of Baliadanga village in Kaliganj. 

The injured were Tauquir Ahmed, son of Shamim Hossain of Bhutiargati village in Jhenaidah Sadar, and Jihad Hossain, son of Hanif Kazi of Porahati village.

Police said that the accident took place around 6:30 pm on Friday at Taleshwar Bazar on the Kaliganj-Kotchandpur road, when Suman Hossain, riding a motorcycle toward Kotchandpur, collided head-on with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. 

Suman Hossain died on the spot, while the other two riders were injured and rushed to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex.

Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun, emergency doctor at Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, said Suman Hossain had died before arrival at the hospital. 

The injured were later referred to Jashore General Hospital for further treatment.

Officer-in-Charge Shafiqul Islam of Kaliganj Police Station confirmed the incident, saying one person was killed and two injured. 

The body of the deceased has been sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue, he said, adding that no complaint has been filed so far regarding the accident.
