LAKSHMIPUR, Nov 15, 2025 (BSS) - A devastating fire gutted six shops at Dalal Bazar in Sadar upazila of the district early today.

The fire broke out around midnight and quickly engulfed adjacent establishments, leaving at least six shops completely burnt.

The affected traders estimated the loss at about Tk 50 lakh.

Fire Service officials primarily suspected that the fire originated from an electrical short circuit.

Witnessed said the fire originated from an electrical short circuit at Azad's CNG garage and rapidly spread to nearby shops.

On information, a unit of the Fire Service rushed to the spot and, with the help of locals, brought the flames under control after about an hour of efforts.

Station Officer Ranjit Kumar Saha of Lakshmipur Fire Service said a primary investigation suggested that the fire might have originated from an electrical short circuit.

Six business establishments were burnt in the blaze, and assessment of the damage is underway, he added.
