DHAKA, Oct 25, 2025 (BSS) - Lower-order batter Sheikh Parvez Jibon and captain Ziaur Rahman hit half-centuries as Khulna Division recovered from a shaky start to post 312-9 on Day 1 of the first-round game against Barishal at Khulna Divisional Stadium today.

No. 9 batter Jibon was batting on 72 after helping the side surpass the 300-run mark. He was ably supported by captain Ziaur Rahman, who made 69.

After opting to bat first, Khulna got a solid start through Anamul Haque Bijoy and Soumya Sarkar, who added 59 runs for the opening partnership. However, both failed to carry on with Bijoy dismissed for 30 and Soumya for 37.

The middle-order batters, apart from Imranuzzaman who made 43, also failed to make an impact, leaving the side at 193-7.

Zia and Jibon then shared a 70-run partnership to steady the innings. After the partnership was broken, it seemed Khulna would be dismissed below 300.

However, Jibon, who hit five fours and five sixes in his knock, shared an unbeaten 47-run last-wicket stand with No.11 batter Sofor Ali.

Ruyel Mea and Moin Khan claimed three wickets apiece for Barishal.
