Joy, Yasir’s century lead Chattogram to strong position

DHAKA, Oct 25, 2025 (BSS)—Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy and middle order batter Yasir Ali Chowhdury hit centuries as Chattogram took the strong hold against Rajshahi on Day 1 of the first round match of the National Cricket League (NCL) at Rajshahi Divisional Stadium today.

Joy played a fluent 127 off 165, featuring 15 fours and two sixes while Yasir hammered 138 ball-129 with 10 fours and six sixes as Chattogram put up 401 before being all out. 

Wicket-keeper Irfan Shukkur hit a quick fire 72 off 63 with 12 fours to play a perfect foil to the centurions.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam toiled hard for four wicket, conceding 159 runs in 34 overs.

In reply, Rajshahi lost two wickets, with the scoreboard reading just one as the bails were drawn for Day 1.

Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad took both the wickets of Rajshahi.

At stumps, Rajshahi are trailing by 400 runs and would have to go long way to gain the control of the game.
