Railway General Hospital opens for public in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Oct 25, 2025 (BSS) - Rajshahi Railway General Hospital has been declared open for the public formally today for the betterment of the public in general.
 
Railway Secretary Fahimul Islam and Health Service Division Secretary Saidur Rahman jointly inaugurated the 20-bed hospital at its premises here this noon through releasing balloons and festoons.

From now on, anyone can avail the hospital services through a ticket of Taka 10.
 
Director General of Bangladesh Railway Afzal Hossain, Directorate General of Health Services Professor Abu Zafar, Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Khondoker Azim Ahmed and Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Afia Akhter were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Railway Secretary Fahimul Islam said there are 10 railway general hospitals across the country, and Rajshahi is one of them. 

From now on, the hospital will be operated jointly by the Railway Ministry and the Health Service Division.

Already, four doctors, one medical technologist and 10 nurses have been posted here. There is a plan for upgrading the 20-bed hospital to 31-bed one. 
 
"We are intended to provide operation theatre and 24-hour indoor services," he added.
