JASHORE, Nov 14, 2025 (BSS) - Tariqul Islam Smrity Inter-union Football tournament began at Upashaore ground in Jashore today.

Bangladesh Football Federation president Tabith Awal formally inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest.

On the opening day, Upshahar Union competed against Fatehpur Union team.

Earlier, child artists put on a mesmerising display to mark the start of the tournament. Later, the tournament was inaugurated by the chief guest Tabith Awal by releasing balloons.

The tournament has been organized in Jashore for the first time in memory of former BNP's former standing committee member and ex-minister Tariqul Islam. 

One team each from fifteen unions of Jessore Sadar Upazila are participating in the tournament.

The organizers said that the first phase of the tournament would end on November 22. The final match of the tournament is slated for November 29.
