DHAKA, Jan 14, 2026 (BSS) - Noakhali Express's Pakistan fast bowler Ihsanullah
has refused to give up hope of making the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)
playoffs, despite his side languishing at the bottom of the points table.
The BPL's newest franchise endured a torrid start to the tournament, losing
their first six matches in succession. However, back-to-back victories have
since lifted team morale, and Ihsanullah believes the wins have provided
Noakhali with the momentum they desperately needed.
"It feels great to be back in Bangladesh. I am enjoying myself a lot,"
Ihsanullah told reporters today. "We have won two matches in a row and there
are two more matches to play. If we can maintain a good run rate in the
remaining games, I believe we can qualify."
He acknowledged that the path to the playoffs remains complicated but
insisted the team still has a chance.
"We need to be confident about our ability. I know there will still be a lot
of ifs and buts if we want to make the playoffs. But if Dhaka win their match
against Rangpur, we will stand a good chance," he added.
Noakhali will open the Dhaka phase of the BPL against Chattogram Royals
tomorrow (Thursday) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Looking beyond the current season, Ihsanullah expressed optimism about the
franchise's long-term prospects.
"They have just come into the BPL and are a new team. I think they will do
better next season. If they can't become champions this season, I believe
they will next season because they have the passion," he said.
The Pakistani pacer also praised young batter Shahadat Hossain Dipu,
highlighting him as a player to watch.
"We have a batter named Dipu in our team and I like him a lot," he said.
Ihsanullah further commended head coach Khaled Mahmud Sujan for fostering a
positive team environment.
"The head coach is very friendly and quite good. He maintains a very positive
and friendly atmosphere," he said.
