Bangladesh finish 6th in recurve men's team event

DHAKA, May 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh men's national archery team finished 
sixth in the final standings of the men's recurve team event at the Archery 
World Cup 2026 Stage-2 held in Shanghai, China on Saturday.

In the qualification round, Bangladesh scored 1,989 points out of a possible 
2,160 to secure ninth place among 20 participating teams.

Later, in the elimination phase (round of 1/12), Bangladesh received a bye 
along with four other teams and advanced directly to the round of 1/8.

In the pre-quarterfinals, Bangladesh stunned the strong India men's national 
archery team by 6-2 sets to book a place in the quarterfinals.

However, Bangladesh were defeated 6-2 sets by powerhouse South Korea men's 
national archery team in the quarterfinals, eventually finishing sixth in the 
overall rankings.

Meanwhile, Bangladeshi archer Abdur Rahman Alif set a new Asian Under-21 
record during the tournament. 

On May 6, he scored 667 points out of a possible 720 by shooting 72 arrows 
from a distance of 70 metres in the Under-21 category, surpassing his 
previous record of 666 points.
