DHAKA, Aug 24, 2026 (BSS) - The first phase of the Sylhet district-level nationwide BRAC Bank Aparajoya Alo Women's Hockey Development Programme has been formally inaugurated today (Monday) in Sylhet.
The special camp has begun at Sylhet District Stadium through a colourful opening ceremony.
Sylhet Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Masud Rana formally inaugurated the camp as the chief guest.
BRAC Bank Sylhet regional manager Rezaur Rahman, Bangladesh Hockey Federation and development committee member Ashraful Alam Bablu, and federation women's wing secretary Tariquzzaman Nannu were present as the special guests.
A total of twenty five talented emerging women's hockey players, selected from four leading educational institutions in Sylhet, are participating in the training camp, organised by the Bangladesh Hockey Federation, and sponsored by BRAC Bank.
The institutions are Amberkhana Girls' School and College, Sylhet Government High School (Lakkatura), Sylhet Cantonment Public School and College, and Government Agragami Girls' High School and College.
The guests highly praised the initiative aimed at identifying female hockey talents at the grassroots level and developing their skills to international standards. They hoped that the special programme, being conducted
simultaneously in seven districts across the country, would usher in a new
era for women's sports in Bangladesh.
