Rangpur DC assures justice in cases filed by martyr's families

RANGPUR, Sept 28, 2024 (BSS) - Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Foysal today assured justice to the families of the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for achieving freedom through the Anti-Discrimination Student-People Movement.
 
"We assure to stand by the family members of the martyrs and ensure justice in the cases filed by them," the DC said while visiting the family members of the martyrs at their homes in the city.
 
He said, “We will talk to the learned court so that the cases filed by the martyrs’ families are handled properly.”
 
The DC met the family members of those martyrs, inquired about them, gifted fruits and extended financial support and offered Fateha at the graves of the martyrs in different areas of the city.
 
He first met Ambia Begum, mother of Shaheed Merajul Islam, a resident of Jummapara in the city, gifted fruits and extended financial support to her and offered Fateha at the grave of Shaheed Merajul.
 
Later, the DC visited the houses of Shaheed Abdullah Al Tahir of Jummapara area, a student who died in the Anti-Discrimination Student-People Movement, Sajjad Hossain, a vegetable seller of Purbo Shalbon area, Shaheed Muslim Uddin Milan, a gold ornament maker of Ganeshpur area of the city and Shaheed Manik Mian, an auto driver of Tazhat area in the city.
 
The DC said that many students, day-laborers and people of various professions were martyred in the July-August Anti-Discrimination Student-People Movement.
 
“As a result, we got today's new Bangladesh. We are meeting the families of the martyrs and exchanging greetings with them. The blood of martyrs will never go in vain,” he said.
 
The district administration has sent the names of 19 martyred of Rangpur district to Dhaka while the list of the injured are being prepared.
 
“We are contacting the injured who are hospitalized or have returned home after treatment. Besides, there are government guidelines regarding treatment of the injured,” he said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Habibul Hasan Rumi, other district administration officials and senior journalists and BNP leader Salequuzzman Salek accompanied the DC.
