SUNAMGANJ, April 26, 2025 (BSS) - Some 172,350 workers are busy harvesting
Boro paddy in 137 haor areas under 12 upazilas of the district.

Out of the workers, 166,983 are local and 5,367 are coming from different
neighboring districts.

Along with them, 1,244 paddy harvesting machines are harvesting paddy day and
night in the haors of the district. Out of these, 988 are combined harvesters
and 116 reaper machines.

This year, Boro paddy has been cultivated on 22,350,202 hectares of land in
137 haors across the district, according to the Department of Agricultural
Extension (DAE).

Of the total, 165,243 hectares of land are in haor areas and 58,259 hectares
in common land. The production target has been set at 13,96,080 metric tons
of paddy.

Until today, 57.62 percent of Boro paddy has been harvested in haor areas and
13.33 percent paddy has been harvested in common land.

Acting Deputy Director of the DAE Mostafa Iqbal Azad said the paddy
harvesting in haors will be completed within the next 10 days and in common
land will be completed by May 25.
