NATORE, May 8, 2025 (BSS) - Success has been achieved in Boro paddy cultivation under the Samoloi system in Chalanbil of the district.
After the collection of paddy at the demonstration farm under the Samoloi scheme, the average yield per bigha of land was 30 maunds while the average yield of Boro paddy under the conventional system was 25 maunds.
Singra Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mazharul Islam inaugurated the paddy procurement program at the demonstration farm.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Khandaker Farid Hasan said that the paddy procurement program will be completed in the next three days.
Beneficiary farmer Sirajul Islam said that by cultivating Bri Dhan-92 variety paddy under the Samoloi system, we have get a yield of about 30 maunds of paddy from per bigha of land, whereas under the conventional system, the yield of different varieties of paddy is 22 to 26 maunds.
Agriculture officer Farid Hasan said the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken all kinds of steps to make this scheme, which was developed with a combination of all technologies, successful and a model.
In addition to the benefits of agricultural mechanization, there has been a saving of time, money and labor for this system.
As a result, the farmers in the area will cultivate rice this way in the coming days.
The Boro cultivation scheme was developed on 50 acres of land of 150 farmers in the Nenguin area of Singra upazila.
The DAE provides trays, hybrid seeds and fertilizers to the farmers for the production of seedlings free of cost.
The government has spent Taka 13 lakh on this scheme.
