DINAJPUR, Sept 6, 2025 (BSS) - Aman cultivation has exceeded its target in the district for the current season, with farmers cultivating the crop on an increased area of land to achieve a promising bumper yield, thanks to favourable weather conditions.

According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), this time the target of Aman paddy cultivation was set on 2,60,860 hectares of land. But, farmers have cultivated the paddy on an additional 5,050 hectares of land due to favorable weather.

As a result, the department hopes that the production target of 8,74,951 tonnes will be exceeded this time and there is a possibility of producing around 900,000 tonnes of Aman paddy.

Deputy Director of the DAE, Dinajpur Afzal Hossain said the rainfall was comparatively less in the first phase of the current season. But, due to rain from the beginning of August, farmers have been able to cultivate Aman on highlands, he added.

Farmers noted that there has been no problem in the cultivation of Aman paddy so far. This season, the planting of Aman paddy seedlings in the district has been carried out smoothly from July 6 to August 15, they added.
