DHAKA, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Adviser's Special Assistant on Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb today said the misappropriated assets of the Directorate of Posts (DoP) will be recovered soon.

"Since assuming office, a list of the DoP's total assets as well as misappropriated assets has been prepared. The recovery process of the misappropriated assets will soon begin in coordination with the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners," he said.

He made the remarks while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of World Post Day as the chief guest at the conference room of the DoP in the capital's Agargaon, said a press release.

Mentioning that the current structure of address management is not suitable for the digital economy, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said leveraging the experience of private courier services, efforts are underway to digitize the address management system by integrating area codes, street codes, and house codes, along with geo-fencing.

He added that the postal and courier law is being updated to ensure personal data security and it is expected to be presented to the Cabinet by November.

He further said that under the mail and parcel tracking system, only 50 to 60 percent of items can currently be tracked. Steps have been taken to improve the tracking software, which will enable nearly 100 percent tracking of mail and parcels, he added.

Taiyeb also said initiatives have been taken to integrate the DoP with e-commerce to ensure equal service access for urban and rural populations and to restore public confidence in e-commerce.

Earlier, a colorful procession was held in front of the Postal Building.
