Humayun Kabir becomes SAFA Vice President

DHAKA, Jan 1, 2025 (BSS) - Mohammed Humayun Kabir FCA, council member and former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), has recently been appointed as the Vice President of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) for the year 2025.

Ashfaq Yousuf Tola, former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, has been appointed as President of SAFA for the same year. Kabir will be appointed as the President of SAFA automatically for the year 2026, said a press release here today.

Mohammed Humayun Kabir has over 43 years of professional experience. He worked at a CA firm from February 1981 to January 1985, at a financial institution from February 1985 to June 1988, and thereafter he served the business sector as well as industry.

Kabir was awarded Poribesh Podok (environment award) by the government in 2010 and recognised as a Commercially Important Person (CIP) export for 8 years by the Ministry of Commerce.

He has been involved with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) as a Facilitator of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) since March 2012. He is also associated with Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BGCCI) as a Director (elected 2021-2023) and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI) as a member of a panel of advisers.

South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) is the apex professional accountancy body in the SAARC region. SAFA has over 475,000 members affiliated with its eleven accountancy bodies from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and Afghanistan. SAFA is also a network partner of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
