Exports earnings register 12.84 pc growths in 1st half of FY25

DHAKA, Jan 2, 2025 (BSS) – Country's export earnings witnessed a 12.84 percent growth year-on-year in the first half of the current fiscal year 2024-2025 (FY25), totalling $24.53 billion up from $21.74 billion during the same period a year earlier.
 
According to statistics of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) ,  Bangladesh's export earnings in December FY25 witnessed a 17.72 percent growth in December this fiscal totalling $4.63 billion, compared to $3.93 billion in the same month of the previous fiscal year.
 
The largest contributor to exports, the apparel sector, recorded a 13.28 percent growth during July–December 2024-25, with earnings amounting to $19.89 billion.
 
Other key sectors such as leather and leather goods, agricultural products, home textiles, frozen and live fish, and plastic products also showed positive growth during this period. However, exports of jute and jute goods experienced a decline.
