DHAKA, Feb 12, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Bank (BB) and Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) have organised a joint learning programme on advancing women's financial inclusion, leveraging disaggregated data and digital financial service.

A total of 41 trainees from AFI's member organisations from 32 countries across the world, including Bangladesh, participated in the event held at a hotel in the city from February 3 to 6, said a press release today.

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur inaugurated the programme while AFI's Deputy Chief Executive Officer Chee Soo Yuen joined the opening ceremony virtually.

In addition, BB Deputy Governor Md Habibur Rahman and Executive Director Husne Ara Shikha also spoke on the occasion.

Most of the participants in this year's Joint Learning Programme were women officials working in responsible positions in central banks and other organisations of different countries across the world.

The international network named AFI was established in 2008 for strengthening sustainable financial inclusion activities through mutual knowledge, experience, information and exchange of views among the policy makers of poor, developing and emerging economies.

Currently, 90 organisations from 83 countries of the world are members. Bangladesh Bank became a member of AFI in 2009. Since taking membership, Bangladesh Bank officials have been making important contributions to various forums, including the Board of Directors, various committees and working groups of the Board of Directors.
