Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, July 1, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange 
(DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- today plunged due to mainly price 
fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, inched down by 1.4 points or -0.03 percent 
to settle at 4,838 points as against 4,840 points in the previous trading 
session. 

Trading activities also declined with market turnover decreased by 6.0 
percent (pc) to Taka 4.6 billion as against Taka 4.9 billion in the previous 
session. 

On the sectoral front, Bank (14.7pc) issues exerted the highest turnover, 
followed by Food (14.2pc) and Pharma (12.3pc) sectors. 

Most of the sectors ended in red, out of which Miscellaneous (3.1pc), Ceramic 
(1.5pc) and Travel (1.1pc) exhibited the most negative returns on the bourse 
today. 

Out of the 397 issues traded, 125 advanced, 202 declined and 70 remained 
unchanged.

The port city bourse also settled on a negative note. The Selective 
Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 20.9 
and 41.7 points, respectively.
