Maldivian FM keen to deepen collaboration with Bangladesh

DHAKA, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel has expressed keen interest in further strengthening collaboration with Bangladesh across various potential sectors.

He made the remark when newly appointed Bangladesh High Commissioner to the Maldives, Dr Md Nazmul Islam, paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Malé‚ on Sunday, according to a message received here today.

During the meeting, Minister Khaleel congratulated Dr Nazmul Islam on his appointment and lauded Bangladesh's continued support and friendship toward the Maldives. He expressed optimism that bilateral relations between the two South Asian nations would grow stronger in the coming years.

The two sides discussed ways to expand cooperation in key areas including education, trade, and culture, as well as to explore new avenues for mutually beneficial engagement.

Both dignitaries underscored the importance of solidarity and cooperation in addressing shared challenges and ensuring sustainable prosperity for their peoples.

Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Secretary Aminath Shabeena, Ambassador-at-Large Dr Mohamed Fahmy Hassan, Additional Secretary Aminath Abdulla Didi, and Political Director Mohamed Azkan Ashraf during the meeting.
